I have just read an interesting article stating that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering approving the first over-the-counter HIV test that would allow people to test themselves for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) at home, quickly and easily without requiring any medical supervision. It has been possible for Americans to purchase home HIV test kits through mail order for a number of years, but these kits have not received FDA approval, although it looks like this might be about to change.
If you’ve ever asked someone what they think about the people who produce bareback porn, often the word irresponsible will come up. This is because many people consider bareback porn producers to be reckless and selfish, where the health of those involved is not taken into consideration. I have operated bareback blogs since 2008 and a bareback sex resource since 2004, so I have personally experienced the reactions that some people have about bareback sex and bareback porn.

During the past couple of weeks I have received several messages from guys asking me why I have bareback sex when it’s so risky. I’ve been called crazy, nuts and insane along with a string of other things, so I would like to address this particular issue. It’s definitely an interesting area to explore and I’m always happy to delve further into the subject of bareback sex. Many of you may be aware of HIV Vaccine Awareness Day on May 18, National HIV Testing Day on June 27 and World AIDS Day on December 1, but did you know that National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is on September 27? We have our very own day to highlight awareness of HIV/AIDS and while some of us may not like to think about HIV or AIDS, it’s a fact that men who have sex with men are the most at risk in the community of contracting the virus without a current cure.
The National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is coming up later this month and I will be writing more about this on the actual day, but I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about the different types of HIV home test kits available to help you identify your HIV status. You might prefer to read about porn or something more exciting, but I believe that it’s important for barebackers to remain aware of our current HIV status and HIV home test kits might be useful to help with this process. Health authorities don’t like these rapid HIV home test kits because the kits prevent them from being able to monitor HIV cases and record these statistics, however, they often use other reasons stating that they may not be reliable or that counseling is recommended.
Think about bareback porn for a moment and some of the following thoughts may come to mind: hot, risky, awesome, dangerous, natural, disease, erotic. Depending on your stance regarding bareback porn, the things that come to your mind may be quite different to what comes to another persons mind. One thought which likely comes to anyone’s mind is the element of risk that can be associated with barebacking. It’s a real shame that disease can also be connected with something so natural, but it’s definitely relevant, whether we like to think about it or not.
National HIV Testing Day is a partnership between the National Association of People With AIDS (NAPWA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The purpose of National HIV Testing Day on June 27 is to increase awareness about the importance of HIV testing and to get as many people as possible tested for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Regular HIV testing is important and this day reminds us of the need to get tested for the virus which is known to lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Even though June 27 is the designated National HIV Testing Day for people in the United States, those living in other parts of the world can participate in this campaign and get tested for HIV in their own part of the world too.
Testing yourself for HIV regularly is an important step towards helping you stay on top of your health status and provides you with information to be as honest as possible with potential barebacking partners. It’s important to remember that testing yourself regularly does not guarantee that you will remain HIV negative, but regular testing plays an important role for barebackers to help reduce the spread of HIV within our community. You can choose to test yourself at a sexual health clinic or doctor and you can also test yourself for HIV in the comfort of your own home using a home test kit. Most barebackers try to be as honest as possible when it comes to disclosing their HIV status, but this is not always the case. Some men may not know that they are HIV positive and some who do might not openly disclose their HIV positive status. Others may not admit their HIV status if they fear it might reduce the likelihood of them having bareback sex or they may be uncomfortable raising the subject. There are some HIV positive men who are considered gift givers who enjoy the thrill of barebacking with HIV negative men who are unaware of their HIV positive status. This article is not about bug chasing or gift giving, it’s about men who are trying to be as honest as possible about disclosing their HIV status.
